STUMPS - DAY 1

Aus 354-6 (89.2 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Australia scored 116 runs in 39.2 overs but India fought back with four late wickets in the post-tea session.

Smith finished unbeaten on 72 from 130 balls, with the help of nine fours, to keep the runs coming after the dismissal of Warner.

Warner had dominated the first two sessions as he hammered 145 from 163 balls with 19 fours. Captain Clarke stroked 60 before he was forced to retire with a back injury and his further participation in the match seems doubtful.

Ishant was India's best bowler on Day 1 with one for 56 in 20 overs while his pace partners Shami (2-83) and Aaron (2-95) bagged a couple of wickets each but went for plenty of boundaries.

Karn Sharma had a tough baptism to Test cricket but he claimed the big wicket of Warner for figures of one for 89 in 23 overs.

With Clarke unlikely to bat, Australia are as good as seven wickets down and India would be looking to wrap up the tail soon on Day 2.

India fight back as Australia finish Day 1 on 354-6

STUMPS - DAY 1

Aus 354-6 (89.2 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Leg-spinner Karn will have a bowl before the close of play. Smith continues to use his feet, driving the second ball through midwicket where Rahane makes a good diving stop. The right-hander watchfully defends the rest of the over, which is the first maiden over for the debutant spinner.

Shami to bowl the final over. Haddin edges the first ball as Kohli makes a good diving stop at the wide second slip to save some runs.

Shami then strikes with the next ball as Haddin (0) edges the outswinger which is pouched by wicketkeeper Saha.
12:53

Aus 354-5 (88 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

A spring in the step for the Indian bowlers as Shami bowls perhaps his best over of the day to Lyon, who edges the fourth ball but it falls short of the wicketkeeper, who dived forward.

Aaron, who was limping slightly in the last over, looks fit enough to continue. Smith plays a lovely drive down the ground for three runs to take Australia past the 350-run mark, in the 87th over.

Shami was finding his rhythm with the second new ball. And he bowls one perfectly on the spot, breaking through Lyon's defences to bowl him for three. Australia's nightwatchman experiment has failed which means Brad Haddin will have to bat before stumps.

Infact, Lyon (3) got an inside edge on to his pads before it went on to hit the stumps. Suddenly, India have a cluster of fielders around the new batsman Brad Haddin, who gets off the mark with two runs from the last ball.
12:42

Aus 348-4 (85 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

It is difficult to see how India can bounce back from this situation. Except for a collapse by Australia, the visitors are facing a huge first innings score. India had the same problem in England when their bowlers failed to bowl out the opposition and also failed to stem the flow of runs.

Aaron, who replaces Ishant, strikes out of nowhere to bring India some relief towards the close of play with the wicket of Marsh for 41. The right-hander was caught in the slips with one that bounced more than expected to give India a vital breakthrough before close of play.

Nathan Lyon is sent in as nightwatchman to protect No. 7 Brad Haddin, now that is a bit surprising. He is greeted with a sharp bouncer which he somehow avoids before driving the last ball down the ground for a couple.

12:23

Aus 340-3 (82 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Vijay bowls a maiden over before India make a change by calling back Shami an over before the new ball is due.

He is still missing the rhythm as his first three deliveries are on the pads with Smith taking one before Marsh gets two on the leg side. A slight hint of reverse but nothing much to trouble the two batsmen.

Australia are 326 for three in 80 overs as India straightaway take the second new ball and bring back Ishant.

The first ball is way down the leg side which Smith flicks fine for a four, not a good start with the brand new cherry. The next ball is short and comes in sharply as Smith looks to leave it but it strikes his bat and goes fine for a couple of runs.

Another boundary in the over takes Smith to 63 and he raises his bat to a huge cheer from the Adelaide crowd.

Shami has been the most disappointing bowler on Day 1. He attempts a short ball which is pulled square on the leg side for a four by Marsh, who has grown in confidence.

India were a bit too wide with the first new ball and with the second ball they have been a bit too straight, bowling on the pads and giving away some easy runs.
12:07

Smith hits fifty, Australia continue to dominate

Aus 323-3 (78 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Aaron's below-par showing with the ball continues. He drops the fifth ball short as Marsh smashes it through point for a four before he takes a single from the last ball.

Marsh is looking quite comfortable as he comes down the track and drives Vijay past the cover fielder for a boundary to take his score to 32.

Karn comes back as Smith plays it down the ground for a single to bring up his half-century from 90 balls. Two more singles take the score to 320 for three in 77 overs.

Spin from both ends with just a few overs to go for the second new ball. Both Smith and Marsh milking the bowlers with considerable ease as singles keep flowing.

11:49

Aus 307-3 (73 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Some signs of reverse as Aaron gets one to tail in sharply but Marsh defends it watchfully. Aaron's inconsistency has been the biggest disappointment for India. He has bowled some superb deliveries but along the way has gifted Asutralian batsmen a lot of boundary balls.

Vijay continues and he is doing a decent job in comparison to the other bowlers. He has just concentrated on bowling it straight and on the stumps, looking to complete his overs as soon as possible.

Vijay has given away 21 runs in nine overs and has helped India catch up with over rate to some extent. With 45 minutes left for the scheduled close of play, India are 17 overs short, which means we will definitely go into over time.

After 73 overs, Australia have reached 307 for three with Smith on 47 and Marsh on 23.
11:44

Aus 302-3 (70 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Marsh using his feet against Karn and this time he lofts it over mid-on for a boundary. Two balls later, Smith also comes down and whips it through midwicket for the same result to get 11 runs from the over.

Interestingly, Geoff Marsh and Shaun Marsh both have failed in their last five innings against India. So it must comes as a big relief for the Marsh that the younger son Mitchell has got into the double figures against the Indians.

Aaron comes back for another spell as Ishant is given a break. Smith hits the fifth ball through the off-side for a boundary to bring up Australia's 300.

After 70 overs, Australia are 302 for three with Smith on 45 and Marsh on 22.
11:16

Aus 280-3 (65 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

India may be overdoing Vijay's spell, who comes on to bowl his sixth over on the trot. It is allowing both Smith and Marsh to get their eye in with the part-timer not being able to make any sort of impact.

Marsh drives Karn through midwicket for a four before Smith plays another superb drive through the covers for the same result.

Vijay after bowling six overs for 17 runs makes way for Ishant with Kohli not having too much trust in Shami and Aaron, who have given plenty of runs in the first two sessions.

Smith clips Ishant through midwicket for three runs as the scoreboard continues to tick along.

What has been noticeable about Australia's batsmen has been their footwork against spin. Everyone has been keen to jump down the track to Karn and look to be positive against him.

Smith comes down as Karn bowls it wide but he still manages to drive as Pujara makes a good stop in the covers.

After 65 overs, Australia are 280 for three with Smith on 36 and Marsh on nine.
11:06

Aus 263-3 (60 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Marsh cannot resist the temptation and comes down the track to Karn as he tries to whip it through midwicket where Rahane makes a good diving stop to save a run.

The mid-on fielder is quite deep and Marsh picks up a single and Smith also gets one from the next ball.

After 60 overs, Australia have reached 263 for three with Smith on 26 from 48 balls and Marsh on two.
10:54

Aus 258-3 (58 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Warner comes down the track but miscues it on the leg side and ends up offering a simple catch to Ishant at deep midwicket. The left-hander walks back after a superb innings of 145 from 163 balls, hitting 19 boundaries in total, before he became Karn's maiden wicket in Test cricket.

A lucky break for the Indians who were just looking to rush through their overs to make up for time.

Warner didn't reach the pitch of the ball but still went through with the shot and had to pay a price for it.

New batsman Mitchell Marsh looks to give Karn the charge but is nearly beaten in the flight and has to defend.

With Warner back in the hut, India continue with the part-time spin of Vijay. It would make sense to give Rohit a try, who is also an effective spinner in limited oves cricket at times.
10:48

Aus 257-2 (56 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Warner has another close shave as he attempts the slog sweep and wicketkeeper Saha takes off the bails but the batsman drags his feet back just in time. He retains strike with a single from the last ball of the over.

Vijay will continue with India looking to perhaps make up for their slow over rate. He is not trying anything fancy, bowling it flat and quick to rush through his overs.

Karn also taking less time to get through this overs as Indians show some urgency with their over rate.

Vijay bowling to his field as Warner is unable to pierce the off-side ring before he pulls a short ball fine on the leg side where Aaron dives over the ball to give away a four. The left-hander slog sweeps the last ball over midwicket for another boundary to get into the groove after the tea break.

Austarlia are 275 for two in 56 overs with Warner on 145 and Smith on 22.
10:42

Warner's century puts Australia in control

Aus 242-2 (52 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

India start the third and final session with the leg spin of Karn. Australia nearly lose the wicket of Warner in that session who sets for a quick single but is sent back as Murali Vijay fails to collect it cleanly.

A surprise move from Kohli as he brings on part-timer Murali Vijay into the attack, who concedes just two singles in his first over.

Warner slams century, Aus 238-2 at tea

TEA - DAY 1

Aus 238-2 (50 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Shami comes back and he starts with a short wide delivery which Warner slashes over the off-side for two runs. The next ball is on the pads which the left-hander turns on the leg side for another couple followed by a single which takes the score to 222 for two. Remember umpire David Shepherd anyone?

Smith then plays a cracking cover drive which goes into the gap perfectly for a boundary. He also looks in superb touch right from the start.

The tea break is round the corner. But Warner does not hold back as he reverse sweeps Karn for a boundary behind point.

Smith using his feet at every possible opportunity against Karn as he drives the fifth ball through the off-side for a couple before he blocks the last one.

Smith ends the session with another delightful boundary through midwicket off Shami.

At the tea break, Australia have progressed to 238 for two in 50 overs.

Warner dominated the post-lunch session to smash his way to a brilliant 131 from 140 balls, having hit 17 fours. Smith has also started positively to score 17 from 23 balls as the hosts scored 125 runs in 26 overs in the second session.

The only bit of worry for Australia was captain Clarke walking off with a back injury after he had stroked 60 from 84 balls, after putting on 118 runs for the third wicket with Warner.

Ishant was the only bowler who managed to make an impression with one for 36 in 15 overs but the rest of the bowlers went for a lot of runs.

Aaron and Shami went for a combined 147 runs in 24 overs they bowled between them for just a wicket, while leggie Karn gave away 53 runs in 11 overs.
09:59

Aus 217-2 (47 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Smith immediately gives Karn the charge but can only defend it on the leg side. A couple of good overs from the leg-spinner as he looks to bounce back after going for a lot of runs initially.

A freebie for Smith as Ishant gifts a short wide delivery which the right-hander slaps through the off-side for a four to get off the mark. He gets an edge off the last ball which is half-stopped by the slip fielder for a couple.

Karn gives it some flight as Smith again comes down for a single before Warner gets one too to take the score to 217 for two in 47 overs.
09:47

Warner slams century but Clarke retires with injury

Aus 206-2 (44 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Some worry for Australia as Clarke goes down in pain and is stretching his back. The physio is called out as the Australian captain clearly looks in some discomfort.

Clarke looked to pull the short delivery from Ishant but had to pull out midway with some pain.

After some treatment and consultation with the physio, Clarke has to walk off the field because of the injury. That's unfortunate for Australian team and the fans at the Adelaide Oval.

CLARKE RETIRED HURT: 60 (84b, 9 fours)

Clarke walks back to a loud cheer after scoring 60 from 84 balls, having added 118 runs in 24.5 overs for the third wicket with Warner.

Steve Smith comes into replace his captain and he watchfully plays out the rest of the over from Ishant.
09:39

Aus 205-2 (43 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Australia are threatening to run away with the game at the moment. Warner heaves Karn over midwicket for a four before Clarke chips down and lofts the leg-spinner back over his head for another boundary.

Australia have reached 201 for two in 41 overs, with the run rate closing in on the five runs per over mark.

India need to have a serious rethink about their tactics. Maybe they can try and string a few tight overs to build some pressure and force the batsmen into a mistake.

Only Ishant has managed to make some impression as he bowls another steady over, conceding just two singles.

Clarke looks very comfortable using his feet to Karn as he plays an uppish drive which goes on the bounce to long-off for one. The Australian captain has played a few loose shots along the way and India will need to be patient, while look to bowl in the right areas.
09:34

Aus 190-2 (40 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

The short ball is clearly not working against Warner, who plays another confident pull for a single to deep square leg. Clarke then gets an inside edge which goes fine on the leg side for a four and then edges the next ball which goes past the slips for another boundary.

In the next over, Clarke comes down the track to Karn and whips him through midwicket to bring up his fifty, from 69 balls.

Warner then sweeps him powerfully behind square on the leg side for a boundary as the runs continue to flow. Captain Kohli is unhappy with the effort of Aaron on the fine leg fence and is having a few words with the fast bowler.

Clarke then rocks back and looks to cut but gets a thick outside edge with Aaron making a good stop on the ropes.

Clarke and Warner have now put on 100 runs for the third wicket in 20.3 overs as India are forced to bring back Ishant.

He bowls a good over to Clarke, nearly getting an edge off the fourth ball as Australia reach 190 for two in 40 overs.

Warner has dominated right from the start to hit 107 from 111 balls with the help of 15 fours, while Clarke has made 56 from 78 balls.
09:15
This is David Warner's fifth century in 2014. Check out his recent run in Tests: 115, 70, 66, 135, 145, 133, 29, 19, 58 and now 100 not out. What a player!

Warner blasts century to put Australia in control

Aus 171-2 (37 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Warner pulls a short ball from Aaron to deep midwicket for a single to take his score to 99.

Aaron then beats Clarke all ends up with a beauty, that moves away slightly at the last moment. There was a slight sound as the ball passed the bat but Hotspot shows that the bat might have struck the pads.

The next ball is in the slot, full and drifting into the right-hander, as Clarke flicks it stylishly through midwicket for a boundary.

Karn bowling from round the wicket to Warner, who is one short of his century. He watchfully defends the first two balls before he brings up his century from the third ball, from 106 balls.

Once again the left-hander looks up to the skies before kissing his helmet and gets a hug from his captain. An emotional moment for both Clarke and Warner, both of whom were close friends with Phil Hughes.

This is Warner's 10th Test century and he has put Australia in a good position this early in the game.
09:05

Aus 165-2 (35 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Warner has enjoyed batting against the extra pace of Aaron as he crashes another full delivery through the covers for his 14th four to take his score to 94.

Too many boundaries bowled by the Indian pace bowlers in the first two sessions helping Australia get runs at a good pace.

The Clarke-Warner combine is flying high at the moment, with 74 runs in 15.3 overs at nearly five runs per over.

The flow of runs against the pacers has forced Kohli to bring back leggie Karn Sharma. Warner attempts to sweep one from the outside the off-stump but misses as the Indians make a loud appeal for LBW which is rejected.

Warner turns a slightly short delivery on the leg side for a couple to move within three runs of his century. He takes a single off the next ball to inch closer before Clarke blocks the last ball.

Warner, Clarke put Australia in control

Aus 157-2 (33 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Shami again errs with his length as Clarke crashes a short wide delivery through the off-side for a four.

'India have been either too full or too short,' Rahul Dravid rightly observes on commentary.

Clarke then edges the next ball but it falls short of the slips before he plays another cracking through the covers for a four.

A short spell for Ishant after the lunch break as Aaron comes back. He attempts a short ball against Warner who ducks under it but that is ruled a no ball for height. Another wide delivery is hit square on the off-side by Warner, who then picks a single to bring up Australia's 150 after 32 overs.

Clarke scored a lot of runs when India toured Australia and he looks good for a lot more. A short ball by Shami is too easy for Clarke to pull through midwicket for a four to take his score 37.
08:42

Warner's half-century puts Australia on top

Aus 136-2 (30 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Shami tempts Clarke to drive at one slightly wide of the stumps but the resultant edge falls short of the slips. The Australian captain plays another loose drive off the next ball, this time getting a thick edge which goes behind point for a boundary.

Warner is content to play it sensibly as he takes a single from the first ball before Clarke drives Ishant down the ground past mid-on for three runs.

Warner clips a full delivery from Shami through midwicket for another easy single. Clarke plays another great shot, hammering a full delivery straight down back past the bowler for a four to take his score to 22.

He attempts to cut the next ball but is beaten and is lucky not to have got an edge. Both Shami and Aaron have leaked a lot of runs and failed to give enough support to the experienced Ishant.

Ishant continues from round the wicket and Warner clips another one off his pads for a single. The strategy of bowling around the stumps and on to Warner's body is not working with the left-hander picking up easy runs on the leg side.

After 30 overs, Australia looking comfortable on 136 for two with Warner on 84 from 87 balls and Clarke on 23 from 40 balls.

Warner blasts quickfire half-century to lift Australia

Aus 117-2 (26 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Shami to opening the bowling the second session and facing him will be Warner, who will be keen to continue his free flowing approach and build Australia's score on a good batting wicket.

Warner plays the fourth ball through point for a single, not very convincing that drive before Clarke defends the last two deliveries.

Ishant comes into the attack. Clarke turns the second ball on the leg side for a couple before he lets go one through very late.

Warner blasts quickfire fifty, Aus 113-2 at lunch

LUNCH - DAY 1

Aus 113-2 (24 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Ishant bowls the final over of the session, giving away three singles as the two batsmen playing it sensibly as Australia go into the lunch break at 113 for two in 24 overs.

Warner smashes his way to a splendid innings of 77 from 73 balls, having hit 12 fours, while Clarke made nine from 18 balls.

Ishant was India's bowler as he took one for 17 in eight overs. Pacer Aaron also picked up a wicket but went for plenty of runs for figures of one for 51 in eight overs, while Shami had a below-par showing with the new ball for 30 runs in five overs.

Leg-spinner Karn Sharma bowled a lot of loose deliveries and was lucky to concede just 15 runs in three overs.

Overall, it was a session that belonged to Australia despite the two wickets and Warner played a big role with his attacking batting during the morning session.

Aus 110-2 (23 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

A good short ball from Aaron to Clarke, who initially looks to duck before he plays an awkward pull shot which falls safely on the leg side for a couple. He wristly flicks another short ball, the last of the over, square on the leg side for another couple to make it six runs from the over.

Around 10 minutes to go for lunch as Ishant is brought back with India looking for another wicket before the interval.

Warner tucks the second ball on the leg side for a single before Clarke gets an inside edge for another run. Warner pulls a short ball but gets only a single to deep midwicket before Clarke sees out the rest of the over.

Warner now having a go at Karn as he comes down and lofts the leggie back over his head for a four. He looks to sweep the next ball fine but misses before he again chips down the track and drives it through the covers for another four.

Warner has raced to 75 from 68 balls with 12 fours so far and Clarke is on eight as Australia reach 110 for two in 23 overs.

Aaron dismisses Watson, Aus lose 2nd wicket

Aus 92-2 (20 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Debutant leg-spinner Karn Sharma comes into the attack to bowl the 18th over. He starts with a full toss and even Warner looked surprise as he drove it gently to mid-on before he takes a single off the third ball.

He is right on the mark to Watson, who comes forward to defend. He comes down the track to the next ball but is forced to block it. The last ball is a full toss for a single on the leg side as two runs come from the over.

Against the run of play, the struggling Aaron claims the key wicket of Watson. The right-hander goes after a wide delivery but only manages an edge as Dhawan takes his second catch at second slip.

Watson walks back for 14 from 33 balls to leave Australia on 88 for two in the 19th over.

Captain Michael Clarke is welcomed by a quick bouncer first up who plays out the last three deliveries.

Warner sweeps a full toss from Karn on the leg side for a couple to take his score to 63 as he looks up towards the sky and raises his bat to remember his friend Phil Hughes. The crowd break into the 63-second applause as a tribute to Hughes. An emotional moment for both Warner and Clarke, who were close friends with Hughes.

Clarke comes down the track and takes a single off the last ball.

After 20 overs, Australia are 92 for two with Warner still going strong on 64 from 60 balls.

Aaron ends the over with a couple of good deliveries to Watson as Australia reach 86 for one in 17 overs.
06:53

Warner blasts quickfire fifty to give Aus a good start

Aus 80-1 (15 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Ishant continues from round the wicket to Warner as the Indian bowlers continue with their tactics of bowling at the stumps to the left-hander. Just one delivery out of 40 has been bowled over the wicket to Warner clearly showing that India have come out with some plan against the opener but it has failed to work so far.

Ishant has started off well as he bowls another maiden to Warner. He is the only Indian bowler to bowl a maiden, infact two in his four overs so far and has played a key role in pulling back things for India after Australia's fiery start.

Meanwhile, Aaron continues to leak runs. Watson misses the cut shot off a short wide delivery before he drives a half-volley through the covers for a four to make up for the previous ball.

Warner shows good skill to turn one on the off-side from Ishant through midwicket to collect three runs. Ishant has a huge shout for LBW against Watson turned down as the right-hander came across but missed the flick. Remember no DRS in the series as is the case with matches involving Indians.

Warner pulls a short ball from Aaron through midwicket for a four and then pulls the next one fine for the same result to race to his half-century from just 45 balls, having hit nine fours.

Aaron's disappointing morning continues as he struggles to find his rhythm against the attacking might of Warner.

After 15 overs, Australia are 80 for one with Warner on 54 from 47 balls and Watson on 13 from 23 balls.

Aaron comes back as Shami gets a breather after an expensive first spell of five overs for 30 runs.

He starts with a short ball which Watson watches go through before the right-hander slaps the fourth ball square for his second four. He plays another good drive off the next before Rohit Sharma makes a good stop on the off-side to save some runs.

The first hour has belonged to Australia, who have raced to 64 for one in 11 overs with Warner slamming 42 from 34 balls with the help of seven fours.

The bouncers are coming through at a good rate now. Shami bowls another half-tracker but it is way too high for Warner and is called a wide for height. Warner then makes a bit of room as he again drives on the up through the off-side for three runs as Rohit Sharma makes a good stop inside the ropes.

Warner is unable to connect as he tries to flick Ishant fine on the leg side off the first couple of deliveries before he gets one from the third. Watson then gets off the mark in confident fashion as he flicks it stylishly through midwicket for a boundary.

He inside edges the fifth ball for a single on the leg side as six runs come from the over.

After 10 overs, Australia are 60 for one with Warner on 42 from 34 balls and Watson on five.

Ishant strikes, Australia lose Rogers after flying start

Aus 50-1 (8 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Rogers takes a cue from his partner and plays a wonderful drive through the covers for three runs. Warner takes one before the last two balls are defended by Rogers to end a relatively quiet over considering the circumstances as just five runs came from Shami's third over. But Australia look quite comfortable on 45 for no loss after five overs with an amazing score rate of nine runs per over.

Ishant Sharma comes in to replace Aaron, who went for 23 runs in his first two overs.

Ishant makes a good start as he starts off with a maiden over, forcing Warner to watchfully defend to good deliveries pitched on and around the off-stump.

No help for the pacers with the new ball as Rogers plays a beautiful straight drive which runs all the way gently for a boundary back past the bowler before he is beaten off the last ball.

A slight lull in proceedings as just four runs have come from the last two overs with 45 coming from the first five.

Warner turns Ishant to deep square leg for a single to bring up Australia's 50 in the eighth over.

Rogers looks to drive a full delivery through the off-side, which is very wide and keeps moving away, but gets an edge to be caught at second slip by Shikhar Dhawan.

Rogers made just nine from 22 balls as he was virtually a silent spectator in his 50-run stand in 7.5 overs for the opening wicket with Warner.

Shane Watson is greeted by a quick bouncer as he manages to get out of the way.

Warner gives Australia a flying start in Adelaide

Aus 40-0 (4 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Warner looks desperate to get after the Indian pacers right at the start. A full wide delivery from Shami is lofted over the off-side field for a boundary and the next ball is smashed through the covers for the same result.

Warner has raced to 21 from nine balls, having hit five boundaries already.

Shami immediately adjusts his length as Warner is forced to defend but the fifth ball is sent crashing through the covers for the third four of the over.

Interestingly, no bouncers yet from the Indian pacers as Aus race to 31 for no loss in three overs with Warner on 28 from 13 balls, having hit six boundaries already.

An angry Aaron sends down the first bouncer of the match as Warner ducks awkwardly, maybe he was not expecting it. The next ball is again short but this time it is wide as Warner cuts it over point for another four.

Three men in the cover but Warner is still able to find the gap for a couple. The bowlers are already feeling the pressure as Aaron bowls a big wide on the off-side and immediately switches to over the wicket.

Warner then clips it to midwicket for a single as Rogers comes back on strike after a while. The last ball is a beauty as it goes past the outside edge and Aaron's loud appeal is turned down as even wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha was not interested.

Australia have raced to 40 for no loss in four overs, with Warner smashing 35 from 17 balls with seven fours and Rogers on two.

Aus 16-0 (2 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

The young Varun Aaron to bowl the second over ahead of the experienced Ishant Sharma.

The first ball is full and wide and David Warner needs no second invitation as he drives it through the covers for the first boundary of the match. The fourth ball again offers him some width as the left-hander throws his bat and drives it square on the off-side for another four.

He inside edges the next ball on to his pads trying for another drive through the off-side. Warner gets the third boundary of the over through the off-side again followed by a single to get 14 runs from it.

Mohammed Shami to open the bowling for India and he starts from round the wicket to Australian opener Chris Rogers.
