November 04, 2004 21:46 IST

The Board of Control for Cricket in India sources denied media reports that the Indian team's physiotherapist Andrew Leipus was quitting after the upcoming two-Test series against South Africa.

"It's true Leipus had written a letter to the BCCI that he wants to quit and pursue his education. But that was long ago. He doesn't want to quit now and wants to continue," the sources said in Mumbai on Thursday.

Reports in a section of the media had said Leipus has written to the BCCI requesting to be relieved from the demanding job after the two-Test series against South Africa.

Leipus had reportedly suggested that two physios be appointed to the Indian team so that the responsibilities could be shared.

He had also expressed his wishes his to join academic courses so as to update himself on the latest in his subject.

Leipus himself was not available to comment.
