MP restrict Railways to 373

December 14, 2004 20:34 IST

Madhya Pradesh leg spinner Yogesh Golwalkar claimed eight wickets to single-handedly restrict Railways to 373 all out on the second day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Elite group 'A' match against MP at the Usha Raje ground in Indore on Tuesday.

Hosts MP were 106 for the loss of two wickets at the draw of stumps.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 255 for the loss of five wickets, Railways' Kulmani Parida (9) was bowled by Jitendra Likhar to claim the second wicket in his kitty.

Later, Raja Ali (53 including 1 six and six boundaries) and Siddharth Joshi (47) provided stability to their team by adding 82 runs for the seventh wicket partnership.

However, Golwalkar weaved a web of spin around the opposition and claimed the wickets of Ali, who was caught by Sanjay Pandey, Joshi, G Shankar Rao and Harvinder Singh, to take his wickets tally for the innings to eight. He had superb figures of 34.4-05-127-08.

MP opened its innings on a confident note but suffered a setback in the eighth over when Sachin Dholpure (14) was trapped leg before wicket by Harvinder Singh.

The hosts suffered another jolt when skipper Amay Khurasia (1) was bowled out by Harvinder Singh in the 10th over with the total on 36.

However, Naman Ojha (45) and Devendra Bundela (43) added 70 runs for the third wicket to provide much needed stability to the innings.
