Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has urged Mumbai citizens to take precautions as the city experiences heavy rainfall and anticipates high tides. Waterlogging has been reported in several areas, and officials are taking measures to ensure public safety and minimize disruptions.
Weathermen have also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours in the entire Konkan region, including Mumbai.
The weather department on Wednesday issued a rain 'red alert' warning for Mumbai and adjoining areas and asked the authorities to be prepared to handle any situation.
Heavy rains lashed Mumbai and its suburbs on Wednesday, causing flooding on roads and rail tracks and disrupting suburban train services as the south-west monsoon arrived in the city with a bang, while the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert for more downpour.
Waterlogging has been reported in several parts of city.
