Box Office: Angrezi Medium out of theatres

Cinema halls have been ordered to shut down in many cities after the COVID-19 scare, so films are being screened only at a limited number of cinemas.

It is not easy to gauge the potential of films like Baaghi 3 and Angrezi Medium, the recent new releases.

Vinod Mirani gives us the weekly box office verdict.

 

Angrezi Medium

Baaghi 3

Kaamyaab

Cast: Sanjay Mishra, Deepak Dobriyal and Isha Talwar.
Director: Hardik Mehta.
What works: Sanjay Mishra excels.
What doesn't: Post-interval, the movie slumps and never recovers.

Box Office verdict: Average.

 

Thappad

Cast: Taapsee Pannu, Tanvi Azmi and Pavail Gulati.
Director: Anubhav Sinha.
What works: Riveting, meaningful cinema, impressive performances.
What doesn't: Has a slow pace.

Doordarshan

Cast: Mahie Gill, Manu Rishi Chadda, Shardul Rana, Archita Sharma and Dolly Ahluwalia.

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan

What works: Delightful cast, the director uses humour to drive home his point.
What doesn't: There's a tedious need to make *every* dialogue funny.

Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship

Cast: Vicky Kaushal, Akash Dhar, Meher Vij and Ashutosh Rana.
Director: Bhanu Pratap Singh.
What works: Jump starts are worth it, short run time.
What doesn't: Clichéd plot, lame twist.

Love Aaj Kal
