Rahul BajajRahul Bajaj, Chairman, Bajaj Auto Ltd, has been conferred with the Alumni Achievement Award by the Harvard Business School from where he obtained his MBA degree in 1964.

The award was given at a function, which took place at the HBS campus. Rahul Bajaj is the only Indian HBS MBA to receive this award so far.

The HBS Alumni Achievement Award is given annually to a very small number of graduates. This year only five alumni were conferred this award.

The HBS seeks to honor individuals of integrity whose strategic vision drives their organisations, whose creativity and innovation inspire their colleagues and employees, and whose leadership is an example for others to follow.

Rahul Bajaj said on the occasion, "It's a great honour for me to receive this coveted award. This is not merely a recognition of my achievements as an individual but that of all my associates at Bajaj Auto. This award brings global recognition to Bajaj Auto and its thousands of employees."

Kim B Clark, Dean of Faculty, HBS, said: "The impact Rahul Bajaj has had in the business arena made him an ideal candidate for the award. This award is a symbol of HBS appreciation for the standard that he has set."

This is the fourth major recognition received by Bajaj in less than a year, with the Economic Times and Ernst & Young bestowing their 'lifetime achievement' awards on him in November 2004, Rani Durgavati University (the erstwhile University of Jabalpur) conferring the degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) in March 2005 and IIT Roorkee conferring the degree of Doctor of Arts (Honoris Causa) in September 2005.
