Relief train with 55 injured people reaches Orissa

Area manager, Bondamunda Railway Yard, H K Padhee, who escorted the injured passengers, said that of the 55 injured, 32 were discharged after first aid, while the rest were admitted to the Ispat General Hospital and Government Hospital in Rourkela. He said two engines of the train had derailed while two bogies completely toppled over and three had tilted.

A Rashtriya Swayam Sevak leader, who was arrested in connection with anti-Christian riots last year, was gunned down by suspected Maoists in Orissa's communally sensitive Kandhamal district early on Thursday. Approximately 15 armed ultras struck Rudiguma village, about 145 km from Phulbani, in the wee hours of Thursday and shot dead Prabhat Panigrahi, who was staying at an RSS activist's house, police said. A massive combing operation has been launched to nab the assailants.

The victims, Beena and Jitin Dedia, were taking a morning walk at approximately 5.45 am when the masked robbers intercepted them and snatched their ornaments and other belongings, they said.

Maoists blew up a state-run primary school at Gerua village in Bihar's Banka district in the wee hours of Wednesday. Nearly 100 ultras surrounded the building at approximately 2.30 am and used dynamites to trigger the explosion, according to the police. The roof of the three-room school caved in due to the explosion. The school was located adjacent to the Sangrampur block office which was blown up by the Maoists last week.

Nearly 450 kg of explosives were seized by the Special Task Force of Bihar police, from two places in Gaya district, in the wee hours of Thursday.Acting on a tip off, police raided a shop at Kaulakhshni area in Gaya and seized 29 gunny bags containing explosives, Superintendent of Police S M Khopade said.
