Three militants from the anti-talks faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland led by Raknaj Daimari were shot dead in an encounter by security forces while a senior leader of the outfit was apprehended in two separate operations in Assam in the wee hours of Saturday.Three NDFB ultras were killed in an encounter with the army at Lakhipur in Goalpara district of western Assam. The army recovered three pistols and ammunition from the slain militants.

Curfew was on Sunday lifted from many parts of Kashmir Valley while authorities announced relaxation of curfew in Srinagar city, where curbs had been re-imposed in the wee hours of Sunday, following incidents of stone pelting. Curfew has been lifted from Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian and Awantipora towns in south Kashmir and Handwara town in north Kashmir, a police spokesman said. The Lashkar-e-Tayiba militant, who was allegedly involved in the murder of two teenaged sisters in Sopore town of Baramulla district, was killed by security forces in the apple town on Sunday. Wasim Ahmad Ganaie, who had taken shelter in an underground drainage system in Muslim Peer area of Sopore on Saturday, was killed in the wee hours of Sunday, officials said.
