The exodus of foreign investments from Indian equity markets continued unabated, with FPIs pulling out nearly Rs 20,000 crore in the last five trading sessions on higher valuations of domestic stocks and shifting their allocation to China. As a result, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have turned net sellers in the equity market, with total outflows reaching Rs 13,401 crore for 2024 so far. Going ahead, the FPI selling trend is likely to continue in the near term till data indicate the piossibility of a trend reversal.

Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty ended on a mixed note on Wednesday as the euphoria about the Budget fizzled out, with investors going for profit-taking ahead of the Fed interest rate decision. The 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex climbed 158.18 points or 0.27 per cent to settle at 59,708.08 after it trimmed most of the intra-day gains. During the day, it had zoomed 1,223.54 points or 2 per cent to 60,773.44.

Unfazed by Nitin Gadkari's legal notice over her statement -- that he did not want her to pursue the irrigation scam in Maharashtra -- RTI activist Anjali Damania has said she will not tender a public apology to the Bharatiya Janata Party president. "I received the defamation notice last evening around 6 pm. He (Gadkari) said if I apologise, he won't file a suit against me. But I refuse to give an apology, because whatever I said is true," the RTI activist said.
