England captain Alastair Cook said a lack of experience on the subcontinent cost his team dearly as they fell to a first-ever test defeat by Bangladesh in Dhaka on Sunday. England suffered an astonishing collapse at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, losing 10 wickets in a single session in their second innings, and were all out for 164 while chasing 273 for victory on the third day of the second and final test. Next up for Cook is a five-match test series in India starting on Nov. 9, on spin-friendly pitches similar to the one England struggled to come to terms with in Dhaka.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has asked the Centre to seal off the porous Indo-Bangla border to prevent infiltration by militants from Bangladesh. More than 100 camps of North East-based militants, including the United Liberation Front of Asom, National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Issac-Muivah) among others are operating within Bangladesh. India shares a 4,095 km-long border with Bangladesh, including the longest in West Bengal at 2,216-km, part of which is porous.

Pakistan's experienced all-rounder Shoaib Malik has said that he and his teammates are keen to set up a rematch with India in the final of the Asia Cup tournament in Bangladesh. Malik told the Pakistani media in Mirpur that they had lost to India in the group match on Saturday since the team had failed to adapt to the conditions at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium. "I think we failed to read the pitch and conditions properly against India and instead of adapting ourselves we committed hari kari (fumbled) by trying to play overly attacking shots," he said. The former Pakistan captain said everyone in the team was disappointed by the defeat but were now also more intent on winning matches to qualify for the final.
