Renowned oncologist and former chief of the Indian Medical Association's Goa unit Dr Shekhar Salkar said the number of cancer cases is on the rise with the increase in population across the world.

However, he also said traditional ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy have also controlled and provided permanent solution to several complex diseases like blood pressure, thyroid, sugar, arthritis, hepatitis and asthma.
"They are just making a noise. They keep creating trends like Thug Ramdev, Mahathug Ramdev, Giraftar Ramdev and so on," he said responding to #Arrest Ramdev trends on social media.
The DMA, on behalf of its doctor members, said Ramdev's statement affects as that medicine does not cure coronavirus and it is misleading.

Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani said that he was not "comfortable" with the present draft clarification given by the yoga guru, remarking that it seemed "more like a pat on the back" and a justification.
"The allegations may be right or maybe wrong. He may say he did not say any such thing... It needs to be looked into," said the judge.
