A 4.6 magnitude earthquake shook parts of Pakistan on Monday with the epicentre located close to a prominent faultline in its Punjab province, the director of the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people in the region to stay calm and follow safety precautions while keeping alert for possible aftershocks.
There were no immediate reports of any casualties or major damage to properties.
'I have never felt such strong tremors of an earthquake'
Tremors were felt in the national capital on Thursday night.
According to NCS, the aftershocks were felt at 6:55 am in both the places today.
The quake was at a depth of 10 km in the Bay of Bengal and was about 296 km south-south east of Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh and 320 km east north east of Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
There were no immediate reports of any loss of life or damage to property.
The earthquake had a depth of 10 kilometres, measuring 4.4 on Richter scale.
The earthquake epicentred in the Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan struck at around 2.40 pm, sending ripples across several states like Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi- National Capital Region, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
