In an incident that exposed the shabby conditions of the Kanpur zoo, 31 deer including some endangered black bucks died in Kanpur zoo on Saturday night when a pack of dogs used cracks in the outer wall to barge into the deer enclosure and attack the antelopes.

The CB-CID team, probing the sexual assault of a girl student in Kanpur, has said that the DNA test of the school manager and his two sons have matched with the semen found on the clothes of the victim. The 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by Piyush, younger son of the school manager Chanderpal Verma, the team said in its report. One person was killed and 12 others were injured when a stampede broke out at the Hanuman Temple in Panki on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday. Devotees in large numbers had gathered at the temple on the occasion of Budhwa Mangal festival, when the incident took place.
