IPS officer R S Bhagora, currently serving in Gujarat, has been convicted along with four other policemen by the Bombay high court recently after the trial court had acquitted them.
The examination-in-chief of Bilkis Bano is almost over and the cross-examination is expected to begin on Wednesday.
Bilkis Bano was gangraped in March, 2002, while she was pregnant.
Bilkis, whose cross-examination was concluded on Thursday, had earlier identified in the court the 12 accused.
Bilkis had alleged that a mob had raped and killed several of her relatives on March 1, 2002 in the post-Godhra riots.

A bench of Justices S A Bobde and L Nageswara Rao, while rejecting their appeals, said the trial court had unreasonably acquitted them.

Bano had earlier refused to accept the offer of Rs 5 lakh and had sought exemplary compensation from the state government in a plea before the top court.
Chandubhai Patel, from Limkheda taluka in Dahod district, filed the application before the district sessions court and the matter will be heard on March 1, advocate Arvind Pandya said in Ahmedabad.
