India not only lost its top place as the most represented higher-education system to China, several of its marquee institutions saw a significant drop.
Seven Indian institutes, including five Indian Institutes of Technology, IISc Bangalore and the University of Delhi have made it to the top 100 of the QS Asia University Rankings 2026.
India has 54 institutions in the QS World University Rankings, making it the 4th most represented country after the US (192), the UK (90) and China (72).
The Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay is the top Indian institute as per the Quacquarelli Symonds Graduate Employability Rankings 2022.
