Most brokerages lift targets for UltraTech Cement

Although UltraTech Cement's results for the December quarter of the current financial year (Q3FY25) were not an improvement compared to Q3FY24, the company managed to surpass Street expectations. The company's profit attributable to the owners of the parent dropped 17.4 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) to Rs 1,469.5 crore in Q3FY25 as against Rs 1,777 crore in Q3FY24.

India's gold demand rose 8 per cent annually to 136.6 tonne in the March quarter helped by a strong economic environment despite prices touching historic highs, according to the World Gold Council. The aggressive gold buying by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) also contributed to the rise in demand. India's gold demand in value terms rose 20 per cent on an annual basis to Rs 75,470 crore during the January-March period of this year on volume growth as well as a rise in quarterly average prices by 11 per cent.

State Bank of India (SBI), India's largest lender, reported an impressive 84% jump in its standalone net profit for the December quarter, reaching Rs 16,891 crore. This is a significant increase from the Rs 9,164 crore earned in the same period last year. The bank's total income also grew to Rs 1,28,467 crore in Q3 FY24, compared to Rs 1,18,193 crore in the same period a year ago. SBI's asset quality improved as well, with gross NPAs declining to 2.07% at the end of December from 2.42% a year ago. Net NPAs also eased to 0.53% from 0.64% in the same period last year. On a consolidated basis, SBI Group's net profit rose by 70% to Rs 18,853 crore in Q3 FY24.
