Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi, who is admitted in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences for the past eight days following a severe heart attack, was on Monday in a stable condition but still unconscious with no sign of a remarkable improvement.
"He has still not regained consciousness and these improvements do not guarantee that he is completely out of danger. His vitals are stable, his BP, heart-rate and urine output are normal. His condition is as such that these improvements can worsen anytime," Dr D K Sharma, Medical Superintendent, AIIMS, said.
"The pneumonia is under control with the prognosis being good. Gradually his oxygenation (amount of oxygen in blood purified by the lungs) level has shown improvement and there is no spread of pneumonia," Head of AIIMS Cardiac Thoracic Vascular Sciences Department Sampath Kumar said. The 84-year-old leader was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday last with complaints of fever and chest congestion. Doctors later found that he was suffering from pneumonia.
