Three unidentified militants were killed in a fierce gunfight in the hilly Mahore area of Reasi district in Jammu region on Monday.Troops of the 58 Rashtriya Rifles surrounded a forest area near Mahore early on Monday after receiving specific information about the presence of a group of militants in it.He said, "The operation is over. Arms and ammunition have also been recovered from the encounter site".

Three Army jawans were killed in two flood-related road accidents at Tenga and Bomdir in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday. Army sources at Tezpur said two Army jawans were killed when their vehicles, carrying eight persons, hurtled down the hilly road at Bomdir, 30 km from Tawang, on July 30. On Saturday, another jawan was killed in a landslide at Tenga, sources said. Torrential rains since July 27 have caused flash floods and landslides.

Two children were killed when a hand grenade exploded in Gawari village in the hilly Doda district at Jammu on Friday. The children had found the grenade by the riverside and were playing with it when the grenade exploded, said the police. The victims have been identified as Kamran (6) and Mohammad Afzal (12).
