Former top cop and BJP leader Kiran Bedi has said that the controversial British Broadcasting Corporation documentary on the Delhi gang rape case need not have been banned by the government without watching and analysing it, as it meets the "needs of crime prevention strategies" in chauvinistic segments of Indian society.
Bedi said her action on Friday speaking from a stage at Ramlila Maidan went against her "grain" but asserted she did not mean to hurt anybody. "It went against my grain. It is not in my training but it was worth it...I did not mean to hurt anybody," she said.

The Supreme Court on Friday appointed former judge Justice H S Bedi as the chairman of the monitoring authority looking into the case of 22 alleged fake encounter killings in Gujarat between 2002 and 2006.
