Jedrzejczak wins women's 200 metre butterfly

Otylia Jedrzejczak won the women's 200 metres butterfly final at the Athens Olympics on Wednesday to become Poland's first Olympic swimming champion.

Jedrzejczak finished in a time of two minutes 06.05 seconds, outside the world record of 2:05.78 that she set at the 2002 world championships.

Australia's Petria Thomas was second in 2:06.36 to add a silver to the golds she won in the 100 metres butterfly and 4x100 freestyle relay, while the bronze went to Japan's Yuko Nakanishi in 2:08.04.

Jedrzejczak, 20, won silver medals in the 400 freestyle and 100 butterfly in the space of an hour on Sunday.
