The Ahilyanagar district unit president of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena has been arrested in an attempted murder case of 2016, police said on Wednesday.

Accused Babu Subramanyam Kambalat, who has been active in politics, had been shown as "absconding" in police records.

A case had been registered against Kambalat and 11 others at Ambhora police station in neighbouring Beed district in 2016 for allegedly assaulting and seriously injuring a labourer working at a wind energy project.

Legal Proceedings and Arrest Details

While the remaining 11 suspects were arrested earlier in the attempted murder case, they were acquitted by the court due to lack of evidence.

Acting on inputs, the Ambhora police arrested the Shiv Sena leader on Tuesday. He was produced in a court in Ashti, which remanded him in police custody for two days, said an official.
