The Coast Guard today found the body of one of the eight missing crew members of the ill-fated ONGC vessel Samudrika-10, which sank off the coast here.

Eight persons, including the ship's captain, were reported missing after the vessel sank in turbulent seas on Monday.

"With almost 60 hours elapsing since the tragedy, the chances of the survival of the remaining missing crew are becoming bleak. But the search is still on," Commandant Kalpit Dikshit, the Chief Staff Officer (Operations), told PTI.

He said one body was found floating near the site of the accident at around 0600 hours. "Since it was badly mutilated,
it will take some time for its identity to be established," he said.

ONGC's off-shore vessel Disha was asked to recover the body and it was shifted to its off-shore platform Gaurav Sagar at around 1230 hrs.

There were 17 people on board the vessel when it sank at around 1230 hours on Monday. Nine were rescued immediately.

Since Tuesday night, the ONGC has deployed its divers around the site where the vessel sank to search for the missing crew.
