The Organization of Islamic Conference has slammed the US endorsement of Israeli plans to vacate some regions of West Bank and the Gaza Strip while retaining other areas claimed by Palestinians, report agencies.

Delegates at the emergency meeting of the OIC convened in Putrajaya, Malaysia,  today also urged the UN to take a lead role in Iraq after the US transfers authority in June.

The meeting was called as anger over Washington's blatant support to the Israeli plan spread to nations traditionally known to be American allies.

Arabs hold a "hatred never equalled" toward America, declared Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak, while Jordan's King Abdullah suddenly put off a visit to the White House pending 'clarifications' on Washington's position on the West Asia crisis.

Foreign ministers, from Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Palestinian Authority attended the one-day meeting of the  57-nation grouping. About a dozen others are sending junior ministers or other envoys.
