The All India Muslim Personal Law Board is against making registration of marriages mandatory in the country.

on Thursday made it clear that the Board had no objection as long as such a registration was allowed to be optional.

"AIMPLB is against mandatory registration of marriages because we see it as interference in the Muslim Personal Law and a step towards Uniform Civil Code," Nizamuddin told rediff.com in Patna over telephone.
