Rashtriya Janata Dal members in the Lok Sabha today demanded a probe into the alleged links between National Democratic Alliance convenor George Fernandes and the key accused in the stamp paper scam, Abdul Karim Telgi.
Flaunting copies of a national daily which carried a report on the alleged links between Fernandes and Telgi, the members -- including Ram Kripal Yadav, Raghunath Jha and Devendra Prasad Yadav -- raised the issue when the House assembled this morning.
Speaker Somnath Chatterjee said he would allow members to raise the issue later and asked them not to disrupt Question Hour.
Meanwhile, Fernandes today refused to comment on the media reports suggesting his alleged links with Telgi.
"I would not like to comment," he told PTI when asked about the reports.
Earlier, Leader of the Opposition L K Advani, who addressed an impromptu press conference after a meeting of NDA members of Parliament, parried questions on the issue, saying he would confine his comments to today's meeting.
