An Air Deccan staffer was killed on Monday night in the ramp area of the Indira Gandhi International airport in New Delhi, after being hit by a vehicle.

The vehicle is yet to be identified, police said.

The airliner said Sanskriti Sinha, aged 21, was a maintenance technician on evening duty at the Delhi International Airport.

''Prima facie it appears to be a tragic case of hit and run. Sinha was in full compliance of all requisite safety requirements and was wearing a high visibility jacket,'' an Air Deccan statement said.

The airline has instituted a detailed enquiry into the matter.

Sinha had worked with Air Deccan for over a year and half.
