Bharatiya Janata Party, making desperate attempts to come back to power at the Centre, is going by the stars and planetary positions, to ensure that a key conclave beginning in Bangalore on Friday brings good luck.

Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, an astrology enthusiast, has taken extra pains to avoid 'Rahu Kalam' (inauspicious period) during the three-day meet, party sources said.

Yeddyurappa, who became the first saffron chief minister of the south after he changed the spelling of his name, is ensuring that the National Executive is held at an astrologically compatible time.

The inaugural session of the executive, which normally starts in the morning, would this time commence only when the clock strucks noon. The reason -- on Friday the 'Rahu Kalam' falls between 10.30 pm and 12 pm.

The decision to start the meet by noon is also slated to delay the lunch for the top leaders well past two after party chief Rajnath Singh's inaugural address.

As per the sources, the personal astrologers of the chief minister have been roped in to make sure that 'nothing inauspicious' happens in the conclave.

Special timings as per the position of the stars have been calculated for the inaugural lighting of the lamp too.

The saffron party would be spared of any time crunch on the second day as the 'Rahu Kalam' on Saturday would fall between nine and half past ten in the morning. The rest of the day has been found 'auspicious' by the organisers for working.

The second day would also witness the rally by party's Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani at the High School Grounds in Bangalore.

The last day may find BJP leaders rushing to wind up the business before the start of the 'Rahu Kalam' at half past four in the evening. The schedule has been arranged to end the proceedings well before four.

As per sources, the seating arrangements and the dais for the Executive has been arranged after thorough consultations with the Vaastu experts.

"The stage from which Advaniji is slated to address the rally on the second day is not only security proof it is also Vaastu proof," one of the party leader looking after the arrangements told PTI.
