US general in Afghanistan next CIA head?

The US commander in Afghanistan, General David H. Petraeus, is reportedly being 'seriously considered' for the job of CIA director.

Petraeus, who plans to leave that post later this year, 'would take the job if offered'.

Current CIA director Leon Panetta is likely to replace Defence Secretary Robert Gates, who plans to step down this year.
