The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition seeking the Parliament's approval before going ahead with the agreements on the India-United States nuclear deal.

A bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishanan declined to entertain the PIL filed by Mumbai-based IITian M N Ramamurthy.

In his plea, Ramamurthy had contended that the contents of the agreements were detrimental to security of the country. He had sought a thorough debate in Parliament before going ahead with the deal.
