Police in Srinagar [Images] said troops of 16 Bihar regiment noticed suspicious movements along the LoC in the Keran sector, when a group of heavily armed terrorists was trying to sneak into to the Indian side.

"The group of heavily-armed intruders was challenged, upon which they started firing at the troops, resulting in on-the-spot death of one soldier and injuries to two others," a senior police officer told rediff.com.

"The troops maintained a cordon around the intruders, engaging them in a sustained gunfight at the end of which three intruders were gunned down," he added.
