Police in Bangalaore said on Wednesday they were yet to receive any communication from the Australian official who is in India to conduct an investigation into the background of city resident Mohammed Haneef, who has been detained for the failed UK terror plot.

"Before they get in touch with us, there are a lot of procedures and protocol to be followed," a senior official in Bangalore told PTI.

"They need to get in touch with the external affairs ministry and the home ministry and follow procedures and protocol before they get to us," he said.

"All this takes time," he said adding, there was also no official communication from the Australian Federal Police so far.
