Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Sitaram Yechury met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] on Friday, hours before the core group of the Congress met to discuss ways to ease the standoff between the Left and the United Progressive Alliance over the India-United States nuclear agreement.

During the 30-minute meeting, Yechury briefed Singh about the deliberations of the CPI-M's central committee and the position taken by the Left party in connection with the deal.
