President to undertake aerial survey of flood-hit TN district

President A P J Abdul Kalam on Tuesday assured Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa of the Centre's support to the state in coping with the flood situation and said he would undertake an aerial survey of the worst flood-affected areas of Cuddalore district on December 1.

Kalam, who spoke to Jayalalithaa Tuesday morning over the phone and enquired about the situation, conveyed his sympathy for the large loss of lives and huge destruction to property and crops in the state, an official release said in Chennai.

Welcoming his visit and the assurance of support the chief minister told Kalam that she would make a detailed presentation to him on the flood situation, the extent of damage caused to property and crops and the relief operations undertaken by her government, besides the assistance required to tackle the situation.
