Jhajjar's Chief Judicial Magistrate Sudhir Jiwan, who had handled the bail application of former cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi in a poaching case recently, has been suspended with immediate effect.

Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana high court justice D K Jain had on Thursday passed the order for withdrawing work from the CJM, official sources in Jhajjar said on Friday.

The decision was taken by the full high court, the sources said. However, the sources did not divulge the reason behind the action against the CJM but said disciplinary proceedings would be initiated against him.

The suspended CJM, while refraining from commenting on the action, told PTI that he had received a one-page letter from the high court supending him with immediate effect.
