Cop handling Sankararaman murder case made Kanchipuram SP

The Tamil Nadu government has brought back K Premkumar, heading the investigation into the Sankararaman murder case, in connection with which Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati has been arrested, as superintendent of police, Kanchipuram district.

He was shifted from the district to Cuddalore on September 2, 2004, a day before the murder.

The government also replaced Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) S V Venkatakrishnan with DGP A X Alexander.

S Davidson Devasirvatham, SP, Kanchipuram, has been granted leave, an official press release said on Thursday night.

Alexander was DGP (Crime) and Chairman of the Uniformed Services Recruitment Board. B P Nailwal, DGP, Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation, will hold additional charge as the chairman of the board, the release said.
