US power blackout disrupts A-I schedule

August 16, 2003 14:25 IST

The power blackout in parts of northeastern United States has delayed the departure and arrival of Air-India flights between India and the US by nearly 24 hours.

A spokesman of Air-India in Mumbai said as per the revised timings, the flight from New York via London-Delhi (AI 112), originally scheduled to depart on August 14, is now expected to arrive in Mumbai early on Sunday while the flight from Newark via Paris (AI 144) is due to arrive at Mumbai at 00.25 am (Sunday).

Consequently, the departure of the Mumbai-London-New York flight (AI 101), originally due to leave Mumbai early on Saturday, would operate on Sunday morning while the Paris-Newark flight (AI 145) would now depart at 2:30 am on Sunday, he said.

In view of the delayed departure of Saturday's scheduled flights out of Mumbai, the corresponding return flights from Newark and New York would also be delayed, he said.

The spokesman further clarified that scheduled flights to New York, Newark and Chicago for Sunday would depart from Mumbai as per the normal schedule.
