Vijay Mallya quits JD (U)

April 14, 2003 00:25 IST

Rajya Sabha member Vijay Mallya has resigned from the primary membership of the Janata Dal (U), party sources said.

Commenting on his resignation, party spokesman K C Tyagi said that Mallya had severed his ties with the Janata Dal (U) three months ago.

He had joined hands with Janata Dal (S) leader S R Bommai to form the All India Janata Dal, Tyagi said in Delhi.

"Given these circumstances, his resignation from the Janata Dal(U) has no meaning and I do not know why is he publicizing the matter now," he said.
