Veduka means celebration in Telugu. But don't expect any celebration in the script though the tagline says it is a celebration of love. Here, director Jitender Y treads the beaten track, showcasing puppy love between the hero and the heroine. Just before the interval the two-sided love story turns into a triangle with the hero's cousin's entry.

Since the target audience is the youth, the script projects the leading lady as a woman of substance. In fact, the majority of the script revolves around her. She is shown as a daring and nonchalant girl.

The films unfolds with the peppy Harini (Poonam Bajwa [Images]) playing pranks on guys, trying to prove a point that girls too can play practical jokes on guys. She encounters villain Subbu during a drive, where he overtakes her. True to her style, she tricks him by proposing and makes him dance to her tunes.

Enter Srikhar (Raju), an unemployed youth whose father wants him to go to USA. But our hero refuses to leave the motherland and finally finds a job in a software company. Meanwhile he and his friends rent a part of Harini's house. Srikhar and his gang gain the confidence of Harini's grandparents, much to her dislike. However, after some encounters she realises she is in love with Srikhar and vice versa.

And when everything is going fine for the two, Subbu returns with his evil plan. Srikhar thinks it's time he proposed to her and when he does, instead of getting a yes, he gets a tight slap from her! Now the rest of the film is all about whether the two marry or not. And the big question is, why did she slap Srikhar?

The pace of the film is too slow and there is nothing new about the treatment or the story. The only silver lining in the film is the presence of Raja and Poonam Bajwa. Raja is improving with every film and has come a long way after Anan. He has also acquired a new title, 'Nice Hero Raja'.

The background score is jarring. Except for a couple of songs, the music is bad. Even the comedy is bland.

Veduka is just a clean love story, so don't expect any fireworks. See it once if you have the time and inclination.
