BSNL tells Tata, RIL to pay up
This is the second show-cause notice by DoT to Tata Teleservices within a week. DoT had also sent a notice on the company's fixed wireless phones 'Walky', which has been positioned as a mobile phone.
Tata officials confirmed the receipt of the show cause notice but declined to comment.
Tatas had launched the Push-to-Talk services in December 2004, offering customers the facility to make unlimited calls without any long distance or roaming charges within the network on a monthly rental of just Rs 99.
The PTT service, which is the first by any mobile operator in the country, will offer instant connectivity across the country and Internet surfing at 3G speeds.
According to the Tatas, upto four subscribers sitting anywhere in the country can talk to each other at a cost of Rs 99 each.
