Capgemini, a leading global provider of consulting, technology and outsourcing services, on Wednesday announced the formal launch of its operations in Bangalore, its second centre in India after Mumbai.
The workforce at the Bangalore centre would be taken to 600 by the end of first half in 2005 from 100, Capgemini India CEO Baru Rao told reporters here.
The success of operations in Mumbai and the increased customer demand had led to the opening of the facility in Bangalore, Capgemini's global delivery manager Gilles Taldu said.
The firm's India headcount is projected to rise to 2000 at the end of 2004 from 1100 in 2003, he said. Capgemini India has over 100 global customers, mostly Fortune 500.
With presence in 30 countries and 55,000 employees worldwide, Capgemini reported global revenues of Euro 6 billion in 2003.
Consulting services accounted for 18 per cent of the revenues, technology services for 37 per cent, outsourcing services for 28 per cent and local professional services for 17 per cent, he said.
