Closely competing with Air-India and British Airways in passing the benefits to passengers on flights to the West, premier British carrier Virgin Atlantic on Friday said it would add more value to its services on the Delhi-London sector, especially on its premium economy class.
While Air-India has announced slashing of fares of its services to the United States and Europe, and British Airways to the United Kingdom, Virgin Atlantic announced it would provide 10 kgs of excess baggage, a chauffer service and access to the premier Taj Lounge at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi to the premium economy class passengers.
The private British carrier, having a young fleet, operates two weekly flights on the Delhi-London route and now provides chauffer services only to passengers travelling by the upper classes.
The facility, launched a week ago, would be valid till December 15, Andrew Fyfe, general manager (India), Virgin Atlantic, said.
Air-India has announced slashing of its fares by 15 to 25 per cent to destinations in the US and Europe between October and December, while keeping its other promotional schemes intact.
British Airways has offered 50 per cent discount on all IATA fares to Europe, US, Canada and the Latin American and Caribbean nations on 'Fly First' class fares from Chennai, and was offering 30 per cent discount on 'Club World' class fares out of Chennai and Kolkata to all these destinations.
