Anil Ambani skips World Bank meet

November 24, 2004 12:50 IST

Amid the controversy over 'ownership issue', Reliance Industries vice-chairman Anil Ambani on Wednesday skipped a World Bank conference on 'Improving India's Investment Climate'.

Ambani's name was in the list of speakers at the conference for which the agenda was distributed to the media earlier. However, in the fresh list, there was no mention of his (Ambani's) name.

"I don't believe that Ambani is coming," World Bank vice-president (South Asia), Praful Patel, told reporters on the sidelines of the conference.

A large number of media persons were waiting for Ambani at a suburban hotel where the conference is being held, but he did not turn up.
