Senior citizen age limit reduced to 60 years

Rail Budget for 2003-04 has proposed bringing down the age limit for senior citizens from 65 years to 60 years.

Besides, cancer and thalassemia and heart patients, travelling for the purpose of heart surgery, alone or accompanied by an attendant, will be granted 75 per cent concession in AC 3-tier and AC chair Car and 50 per cent concession in AC first Class and AC 2-tier of Mail/Express trains.

Kidney patients undertaking train journey for the purpose of treatment would also be granted similar travel concession, Railway Minister Nitish Kumar said.
