Sonali Majumdar and Maraju Sumanth have won countless hearts with their action-packed, impressive acts and their touching, heart-warming story of perseverance and grit, reports Hitesh Harisinghani/Rediff.com.
Bad Salsa, featuring 15-year-old Sonali Majumdar and 21-year-old Maraju Sumanth, made it to the finale of America's Got Talent season 15.
Sonali and Maraju, who hail from a small village in Kolkata, have been training at the Bivash Academy of Dance since 2012.
Their guru Bivash Chowdhry who has worked with many contestants from other talent competitions, is more like a family member to Sonali and Maraju than a guru.
Sonali's father is a farmer and had difficulty in providing funds for her.
Despite the adversity, Sonali began participating in competitions at age 8 before making her big break when she won India's Got Talent in 2012, followed by participating in Britain's Got Talent in 2017.
The dancing duo have won countless hearts with their action-packed, impressive acts and their touching, heart-warming story of perseverance and grit.
They practice everyday for 8 to 10 hours and stay at the academy where they manage to make time for their studies.
Performing at America's Got Talent wasn't a cakewalk for Sonali. "Whenever we perform we give our 100 per cent and the same was the case with America's Got Talent. Initially, we were nervous but Sir motivated us which helped us perform well."
They want to inspire others to chase their dreams, says Maraju, "We want to become international dancing stars so that we can inspire others chase their dream by overcoming their social and financial barriers." he says.
