hat do badminton and the fashion industry have in common?

Just Deepika Padukone [Images], the daughter of former badminton ace Prakash Padukone.

April 21, the second day of the Lakme India Fashion Week 2005, marked Deepika's debut on the ramp.

The designer she walked the ramp for: Suneet Varma.

The collection: Le Spice.

Deepika has been modelling for a year now. But the closest she got to the earlier Fashion Weeks was the television coverage of the events.

This year, she is up close and personal, and she couldn't be happier. "I can't believe how well they are treating the models. Right from our stay, the food, the backstage arrangements everything has been top-notch."

Deepika took the ramp quite like a natural, without much fuss and drama.

She admits to being thrilled that she finally got a chance to walk with top models like Nina Manuel [Images], Vidisha Pavate, Fleur Xavier and Carol Gracias.

Originally from Bangalore, the next three months will see Deepika out of her home city, touring the country for modelling shows.

The young model says she is most comfortable in knee-length dresses.

Deepika's fashion musts for every girl this summer:

1. A fresh look face. No makeup. Very clean. Very open. Why even go towards makeup this hot summer?

2. Clean clothes with clean lines. No accessories. Try to go in for minimum or no embellishments. Just go simple and basic.

3. And, of course, stick to white clothing all this season!
