India end Day 3 on 281-3, Tendulkar stays on track

India were 281 for three at stumps on Day Three in the third Test against the West Indies at the Wankhede.

The hosts are still 309 behind the visitors' first innings score of 590. 

Sachin Tendulkar was unbeaten on 67, and giving him company was VVS Laxman on 32, the two having put on 57 runs for the fourth wicket. 

Day Four will be all about the Master's 100th hundred. Till then, take care.

Tendulkar is dropped by Baugh (off Bishoo) when on 58. He and Laxman nonetheless combine to put up a 50-plus partnership for the fourth wicket.

VVS Laxman has come out to replace Dravid. 

Tendulkar, meanwhile, completed his 63rd Test fifty with a single off Samuels. It is his ninth Test fifty against West Indies.

Marlon Samuels has cleaned up Rahul Dravid (82). 

The latter's 149-ball knock was inclusive of 11 hits to the fence.

India has made 172 for two at tea (47 overs). 

Tendulkar smashes the second ball after tea (off Edwards) for a maximum to signal his intentions. 

The 50-run partnership for the third wicket is achieved soon after as Dravid smashes Edwards for his eighth boundary.

A boundary by Tendulkar, his first, off Rampaul helped India reach the 150-run mark in the 40th over. 

When on 48, Dravid completes 1, 000 Test runs for the year. 

A couple of overs later, Dravid completed his 62nd Test fifty, his 13th against West Indies, with a single off Bishoo. 

India 163 for two.

Rampaul has Gambhir (55) caught behind. The left-hander's 99-ball knock was inclusive of eight hits to the fence and he and Dravid put on 71 runs for the second wicket. 

His dismisaal ensured the arrival of Sachin Tendulkar to the crease, to a rapturous welcome. 

India 142 for two after 37 overs.

Devendra Bishoo, meanwhile, got stuck on the thigh while batting and aggravated the injury while fielding. He has gone for a scan and might not bowl today. 

Bad news for West Indies. Good one for India.

Marlon Samuels comes in to replace Edwards (11-0-45-0) in the 30th over and the 50-run partnership for the second wicket is achieved in the over. 

In Sammy's next over Gambhir completes his 18th Test fifty, his second against West Indies, with a boundary over midwicket. 

India 125 for one.

India has reached the 100-run mark in the 26th over, courtesy a Gambhir boundary (off Edwards). 

Dravid reaches 13, 000 Test runs with a boundary off Sammy. He achieved the mark in his 160th Test.

He is only the second batsman after Sachin Tendulkar (15, 086) to achieve the feat. 

India 111 for one.

Dravid began the post-lunch session in a spectacular fashion, smashing Edwards' first ball wide of mid on for his first boundary. 

The batsman helped himself to another boundary in Edwards' second over. Gambhir (at 31) was dropped by Baugh off Sammy. 

India has reached 91 for one.

Ravi Rampaul (8-1-30-0) has been replaced by Fidel Edwards in the 18th over.

India go into lunch at 74 for one (after 19 overs).

Gautam Gambhir is unbeaten on 30 and giving him company is Rahul Dravid on one.

Darren Sammy has provided West Indies the breakthrough against the run of play. The West Indies skipper has cleaned up Virender Sehwag (37). It is his eighth wicket of the series.

Sehwag's 50-ball knock was inclusive of three boundaries and a six and he put on 67 for the opening wicket with Gambhir.

Rahul Dravid has come out to bat. He needs 21 to complete 13,000 Test runs.

Fidel Edwards (5-0-24-0) has been replaced by Darren Sammy in the 11th over. Sehwag welcomes the West Indies captain with a maximum over sweeper cover, the shot helping India surpass the 50-run mark.

The Delhi dasher's aggression has forced West Indies to spread the field. There are now five fielders protecting the boundary.

India has reached 67 without loss.

Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag open the batting for India and it will be Fidel Edwards starting the proceedings for West Indies. He concedes a single. 

Ravi Rampaul to share the new ball. He gives away just two. However, Gambhir does manage the first boundary of the innings in Edwards' second over, a wide ball driven between point and cover. 

Sehwag takes seven off two balls in Rampaul's second over.

India 15 without loss after four overs.

West Indies has been bowled out for 590, with R Ashwin cleaning up Devendra Bishoo (12).

The wicket was Ashwin's fifth of the innings. He finished with figures of five for 156.

Fidel Edwards remained unbeaten on 11. The last wicket yielded West Indies a vital 24 runs and the visitor's innings lasted for 184.1 overs.
