Pak beat NZ by 7 wickets

December 30, 2003 07:35 IST

Pakistan won the second Test against New Zealand on Tuesday by seven wickets, scoring the 28 runs they needed for victory in four overs.

Inzamam-ul-Haq was not out 72 and Yousuf Youhana, who hit the winning boundary, unbeaten on 88.

Pakistan would have had a nervous night, with rain lashing the capital, after they declined the extra 30 minutes they were allowed on Monday.

Rain delayed the start for 30 minutes on Tuesday and another shower arrived as the players took the field.

But Pakistan did not delay when they finally got going, with an Inzamam boundary at the start of the second over bringing up the 100 partnership between him and Youhana in 97 minutes and 141 balls.

The first Test was drawn.
