Wipro is contemplating vast expansion in Andhra Pradesh with proposed investment of Rs 950 crore (Rs 9.5 billion) that could generate employment for nearly 29,000 people.
The software giant's chairman Azim Premji met Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy at Bangalore in this regard and informed him about Wipro's plans to acquire additional area of 300 acres in Hyderabad and 50 acres at Visakhapatnam.
The company plans to pump in Rs 750 crore with a projected employment of 15,000 in Hyderabad and an investment of Rs 200 crore with a projected employment of 13,500 in Visakhapatnam respectively, sources said.
Premji urged the chief minister to provide suitable land as per their requirement in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.
Reddy conveyed his appreciation to Premji for his outstanding contribution to the growth of IT in particular and socio-economic development of the country in general, they added.
