About 800 Indian workers of three Sharjah-based companies called off their strike on Tuesday after the intervention of Indian Consulate in Dubai to address their various grievances.

Employees of Indo Middle East Company and Al Khaleej Company of the CPS Global Group went on a flash strike on Monday morning demanding release of their salary pending for the last four months.

The workers sought measures to improve their 'abysmal' living conditions. Alleging they were beaten up by the company officials, they demanded action against those responsible.

The employees refused to report for work and approached the Indian Consulate in Dubai to intervene and resolve the issue.

An official said the problem was resolved after the company agreed to pay two months salary and assured that the rest would be settled soon.
