The Confederation of Indian Industry, on Friday, was all praise for the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led coalition governments in terms of being development-oriented and helpful to the industry.

Asked to comment on the performance of the Vajpayee-led governments in the last five years, CII President Ashok Soota gave full marks the prime minister, saying: "We are happy with the government. We are able to have a continuous dialogue."

"Clearly, it is a pro-industry and pro-development government. In areas like divestment, we had siginificant progress," he said.

Soota said the latest Budget and Exim Policy were 'progressive and forward looking.'
